Check out Bwog’s event’s calendar, which will attempt to compile every campus event across departments and student groups into one easily accessible Google Calendar! We’re still working out some technical difficulties on our end, but if you have any suggestions, issues, or want to make sure your event is included, drop us a line in the comments or by emailing events@bwog.com.

Student Event Spotlight

A new semester means new student events! If your club or organization is interested in having your event featured in our weekly roundup, please submit them to events@bwog.com.

  • On Tuesday from 7:00-9:00 PM in the Lerner Auditorium, The Food Pantry of Columbia will host a Mardi Gras celebration to kick off their Campus Hunger Education Week. Join them for food, prizes, costumes, and fun.
  • On Thursday from 6:30-8:00 PM in Milstein 102, the Map Club will hold its inaugural meeting and teach new members how to create 3D maps out of wood. We love this for Barnard.
  • On Friday from 6:00-8:30 PM in Milstein LL002,  MANSA, Columbia MSA, and Columbia Muslim Student House will host a presentation by Mustafa Briggs titled: “Beyond Bilal: Black History in Islam.” You must RSVP for the event here.

  • On Tuesday from 5:00-6:30 PM in the Joseph D. Jamail Lecture Hall, there will be a talk with Maggie Haberman of the New York Times & CNN and Chris Wallace of Fox News. The journalists will discuss fake news and the media, focusing on the recent issues with reliability and objectivity in journalism.
  • Also on Tuesday at 6:30 PM, there will be a discussion on the “multicultural” novel and the “mixed” experience titled: “Beyond Black and White: Writing about the Multiracial Experience.” The talk is part of a larger series called “Our World” that discusses identity in literature. The event will take place in the Lenfest Center.
  • On Thursday at 7:00 PM in the Harriman Institute Atrium, there will be a panel discussion dedicated to Viktor Perelman (1929-2003). Perelman created the Russian literary and political magazine, Vremya i my in 1975.
