The CU experience is…well, an experience. From the highs to the lows, here’s a playlist of Disney songs to be your soundtrack to college.

“A Whole New World from Aladdin”: First setting foot in NYC is an exciting experience full of “unbelievable sights” and “indescribable feelings.” Though after a while New York might become your new normal, sometimes you just might look out of your dorm window and wonder at the “shining, shimmering, splendid” city you get to call home.

“I’ll Make a Man Out of You” from Mulan: This song embodies the experience of imposter syndrome and feeling inadequate. Ultimately, though, the characters in this song grow into their roles and thrive. You, too, will find your place and belong on campus. Also, the line “now I really wish that I knew how to swim” rings a little too true for students facing the CC swim test.

“When Will My Life Begin” from Tangled: This is both a procrastination ballad of procrastination and the dream of a time when students can choose how to fill their own time instead of living that #StressedStudentLife.

“Into the Unknown” from Frozen 2: A classic new student experience is walking into random buildings and libraries trying to find your classes, a bathroom, a friend, help, anything. Everything is confusing, but with determination, you will find your way.

“The Gospel Truth” from Hercules: Greek mythology? Sounds like the core to me!

“Do You Wanna Build a Snowman” from Frozen: Trying to make friends in classes can be hard. So many people seem wholly uninterested in friendship and seem to slam the door. 

“I See the Light” from Tangled: While the content of this song might not relate to it, the visuals of lanterns rising into the sky from this scene in Tangled is reminiscent of the majesty that is Columbia’s Tree Lighting.

“The Unbirthday Song” from Alice in Wonderland: This is the party vibe. Not big booming frat or club parties, but those small get-togethers with friends where you all act like fools and laugh the night away.
