Music Monday at The Forum: Morrisania Band Project

  • Monday, October 21, 6 to 7 pm, The Forum
  • The Forum hosts a free, open-to-the-public concert series every month. October’s edition features the Morrisania Band Project, an R&B soul collective and cover band from the Bronx.

Playable Futures with the Columbia Digital Storytelling Lab

  • Tuesday, October 22, 4 to 6:30 pm, Low Library
  • Co-hosted by Columbia’s Digital Storytelling Lab and School of the Arts, this event asks participants to imagine and create the future. It encourages creativity and collaboration by focusing on storytelling, design, and play. 

Corky Lee’s Asian America: Fifty Years of Photographic Justice

  • Wednesday, October 23, 6 to 7:30 pm, Butler Library 203
  • The author of Corky Lee’s Asian America and winner of the 2022 Bancroft Prize (issued by the Columbia History Department), Mae Ngai, will be joined by Joanne Kwong (CC ‘97) and Ava Chin to discuss her book. Corky Lee was a photographer whose work documented AAPI communities, encouraging understanding beyond stereotypes. 

Marco Fusi, Violin: New Music by Yu Kuwabara and Salvatore Sciarrino

  • Wednesday, October 23, 7 to 8:30 pm, Italian Academy, Teatro Room 
  • Italian violinist Marco Fusi will perform new works by leading contemporary composers Yu Kuwabara and Salvatore Sciarrino. Fusi is passionate about contemporary works and dedicates his time to bringing them to life on stage. 

Simone Dinnerstein and Awadagin Pratt

  • Thursday, October 24, 7:30 pm, Miller Theatre
  • Pianists Simone Dinnerstein and Awadagin Pratt will perform at the Miller Theatre. The program features four works, a combination of solo works and arrangements for two pianos, including some works adapted in collaboration with the composers for the performance. 

Fear It—King’s Crown Shakespeare Troupe   

  • Friday, October 25, 2 and 7 pm, and Saturday, October 26, 7 pm, Glicker-Milstein Theater
  • Fear It is an original play that weaves together Shakespeare’s female characters’ stories to explore the performance of femininity in his plays. It is presented by King’s Crown Shakespeare Troupe as their Fall 2024 mainstage production.

CUP’s One Acts

  • Friday, October 25 and Saturday, October 26, 7 pm, Lerner Blackbox
  • CU Players presents a series of one-act plays directed and performed by students. This year’s plays are A Tale of Two Spectators, Riddles, Nettle, and The Wasteland.
