Updates hotter than the “Bluest Flame.”
Happening off-campus: Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco are officially married, after having a small wedding ceremony in California with approximately 170 guests on Saturday, September 27. In attendance were Gomez’s close friends and coworkers from the hit TV show Only Murders in the Building, Steve Martin and Martin Short, her best friend and global popstar, Taylor Swift, and actor Paul Rudd. Their vows were exchanged in Santa Barbara, and Selena wore a classic, white halter neck dress, her music producer husband in a dark tuxedo, as seen in pictures posted to the actress/singer’s Instagram. The pair began dating in 2023, were engaged in December of 2024, and have since released an album together, entitled I Said I Love You First. (BBC)
Happening near campus: Mayor Eric Adams announced he is dropping out of the NYC mayoral race, citing media speculation and the Campaign Finance Board’s decision to withhold matching funds as undermining his campaign fundraising ability. Though his name will still appear on the ballot, Adams’ exit consolidates the race to three candidates: front-runner Zohran Mamdani, Andrew Cuomo, and Curtis Sliwa. The announcement comes amid speculation that Adams made a deal with the Trump administration to help Cuomo defeat the progressive Mamdani, though Adams has denied interest in a federal role. Despite having his corruption charges dropped by Trump’s DOJ in April, Adams continued to face accusations of illegal campaign donations and bribery allegations against his associates. He is the first modern NYC mayor to have been criminally indicted, and his withdrawal means his brief, remaining time in office will be mostly fruitless. (Gothamist)

Rewatching: Approaching the latter half of my rewatch of Gilmore Girls! I am officially on season 6, the beginning of Rory’s great decline (she just stole a boat), and am anxiously awaiting the WHY DID YOU DROP OUT OF YALE speech. I’m an unapologetic Logan defender, and even more so an avid Finn and Colin stan, so I enjoy the D.A.R. Mitchum “you don’t have it” Huntzberger crash-out era more than most. Currently trying to mimic the exact way Emily Gilmore says Lorelai.
