Bwog, unlike Ariana Grande, is that girl!
Happening off-campus: “Wicked: For Good” shattered box office records with a $150 million opening weekend in the U.S. and Canada, making it the highest-grossing film adaptation of a Broadway musical ever. The second movie in the two-part series earned $226 million globally and helped end a nine-week slump at the North American box office. The film’s success is attributed to the enduring popularity of the Broadway musical, strong casting including Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, and an aggressive marketing campaign. Despite mixed critical reviews, audiences responded enthusiastically, giving the film an A grade from CinemaScore and a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. (Reuters)
Happening near campus: SantaCon, now a massive, chaotic 30,000-person December bar crawl in Manhattan began in 1994 as a small, subversive performance art event in San Francisco. Originating from the Cacophony Society (the same group behind Burning Man) with just 38 participants, the event was designed to create unexpected, whimsical disruptions in public spaces. However, over time, SantaCon turned into an excuse for mass public drinking and revelry. A new documentary, “SantaCon,” features the original creators reflecting on this dramatic evolution, and is currently screening at DocNYC through November 30. The film explores how the event lost its original artistic intent while revealing broader shifts in urban social dynamics and public behavior. (Gothamist)

Rewatching: I am almost at season 11 of Grey’s Anatomy, and I’m honestly dreading it. I’ve finally gotten far enough in that I want to stop watching now. Cristina hasn’t left yet, but it’s imminent, and once that happens I know Derek’s death isn’t far behind. Also I hate the MerDer AND MerTina simultaneous downfall, not to mention the Japril mess. The only thing I like about these seasons is how close Mer and Alex get, and of course, my queen Jo Wilson. I’m really tempted to just stop while I’m ahead, but I’m trying to persevere!
