Bwog loves slop.
I’ve never been a big fan of Ferris (except for the desserts), but when I heard they had a new and improved salad bar, I had to stop by. Fellow Bwoggers promised me it would be just like CAVA, the popular Mediterranean-inspired chain that serves bowls of rice, meat, and toppings.
Little did I know it would be nothing like CAVA. On the Tuesday when I went, they were serving Japanese bowls. I assume the menu rotates each day, but I couldn’t find it on the dining website.

Regardless of the false advertising I was given, the long line seemed to indicate that the bowl would be worth the wait. The spread of toppings was better than most I’ve seen at salad stations around campus.

I was excited to dig in. I got brown rice, spring mix, sesame carrot salad, edamame, seaweed salad, and teriyaki chicken with the sesame dressing. I was in for a real treat.

Paired with a crispy diet coke, this meal was a solid 7/10. The sauce was a little heavy, slightly overwhelming the bowl with a salty taste, but the seaweed salad was a nice touch, and the portion was the perfect size. The chicken, while slightly chewy, was seasoned well, and the carrots and edamame both tasted fresh.
Overall, the meal was solid, and I will be returning to check out more of the bowl options.
