While the football team’s semiotic deconstruction of Brown marked the end of their year, the basketball, wrestling, and swimming and diving teams are here to pick up the slack.

The men’s team built on a close-til-the-end 59-53 loss to DePaul with a strong 72-61 victory over Longwood in their home opener.  Sophomore Noruwa Agho paced the team, leading all scorers with a career-high 24 points, and junior Brian Grimes chipped in with his second consecutive double-double.  The team will take on Bucknell at Levien Gym Tuesday.  In Brooklyn, the women’s team clawed back from an 11-point deficit to sneak past Long Island University, 64-62.  Double-double machine Judie Lomax put up 14 points and 12 boards in a strong effort, and junior Lauren Dwyer put up 19 and 6 of her own.  The women’s team will play Manhattan at home Tuesday in the first part of a men’s-women’s doubleheader.

The wrestling team used a strong start and pulled a number of upsets on their way to an impressive eighth-place result at Cornell’s Body Bar Invitational.  They’ll next travel to Troy for Northeast Duals next weekend.

The men’s swimming and diving team turned in an impressive performance against visiting Army this weekend, taking the meet, 171-129, and dealing Army their first loss of the season.  The team moved to 2-2 on the year, and will travel to Fordham Monday.

In post-season awards news, women’s soccer senior Sophie Reiser earned ESPN the Magazine third-team Academic All-America honors.  And she didn’t have to yank any ponytails to do it.
