Bwog’s new Constable of Culture, Kyra Bloom, spreads the word on arts-related events in the area, whether for your hot date or an evening alone. If you’d like us to know about a certain happening for next week, email events@bwog.com.
Ongoing
- A free pair of tickets to any show at The Living Room. It’s a race, so grab your girdle and golden apples and email alumniartists@columbia.edu with your name, the show which you’re requesting, and the date. The list of upcoming shows looks promising, and tickets are first-come, first-served.
Thursday
- Barnard Theatre Department’s Eurydice by Sarah Ruhl at 8 pm, directed by David Paul. A beautiful rendition of the Orpheus and Eurydice myth and “an interrogation of its place in contemporary cultural politics.” Continues Friday at 8 pm and Saturday at 3 and 8 pm. $5 with CUID.
- Cinema Thursdays: Voisin Voisines at 7:30 pm on the 2nd floor of Buell Hall (La Maison Française). Movies are usually screened every Thursday at the same time, followed by a moderated discussion en français. Free with CUID, and great for practicing your French!
- Ghost-Writing, a literary open mic presented by Quarto and the IRC at 8 pm. Come and share your scariest stuff
in the IRCat Hillel’s Kraft Center at 606 W 115th St on the 5th floor.
Friday
- Museum Meet-Up: Music in Images at The Cloisters. Join Columbia’s Chair of Music Humanities Susan Boynton on a guided tour of the Met’s Medieval Europe branch. Free standby reservations will be accepted in person at 2 pm in Lerner Lobby.
- BaccHAUNTae at 6:30 pm. The lovely ladies of Bacchantae perform their first concert of the semester in the Glicker-Milstein Theatre on the Lower Level 2 of Diana. Special guest performance by Carnegie Mellon’s The Originals included. Free, and you don’t even have to remember your CUID.
- The Muse’s Voice, a panel and performance featuring New York Women Composers at 7 pm in Sulzberger Parlor, 3rd floor of Barnard Hall. Panelists include Marie Incontrera, self-described “composer, wayward pianist, and heavy metal ballerina”; Faye-Ellen Silverman, BC ’68, composer of The Miracle of Nemirov; and Rain Worthington of the New York Women Composers. To top it all off, students will perform music by these women after the discussion. Free.

@Father The matinee of Eurydice is not at 3 PM on Saturday but at 2. Hope to see you all there.
@Friend of Quarto Hey Bwog, just to let you know, the Quarto open mic tonight is not in the IRC anymore. It has been moved to Hillel. I’m not sure the room, but it has definitely been moved. Thanks!
@Sarah T. Thanks for the heads up!
