The roof of this fine building will soon be open to all!
The results from the SGA grant proposal are in: the Diana roof will now be open full-time for “recreational purposes.” Although a seemingly simple concept, opening the room actually requires installing a ten-foot high fence, which will cost between $50,000 and $60,000.
It’ll be partly subsidized by the Barnard administration, but the project, the first to be funded by the SGA Endowment Fund, will receive $32,000 from the actual grant. The project is the brainchild of Emma Goss, BC ’15, who conceived of it as a space for both pleasure and work. SGA is excited to have an increased presence on campus and is still considering other proposals such as a dry erase board in Altschul Hall. The roof is presently scheduled to open in fall 2014. @Anonymous I love that the other proposal is a dry-erase board. that would be like $50.
@Anonymous on that note, why is barnard wasting its money on this when it’s cutting PE, turning singles into doubles and lounges into quads, closing the pool, etc? it’s broke.
@Anonymous the housing shortage isn’t about being broke, it’s about over-admittance. More people accepted their offer of admittance than they expected. Barnard will get more selective and the problem will fix itself.

@Anonymous Dry erase boards are $200-$400…still much less than the funds SGA has to work with, but believe me I’ve looked into buying them.
