CU Security Attains Goal to be Creepier than theFacebook.com
Old People Still Do Things the Old Way. It’s News!
I’m Sorry…You Spent My 40 Grand on What?
If You Keep Acting Like That, You Little Tramp, People Are Going to Start Thinking You’re Just Plain Common.
Purrr… Purrr… Oh, That? It’s Our Ego. It Likes Being Stroked.

@Follow-up Hey, looks great now. Thanks!
@Check your Char.Set Most browsers are set to autodetect the character set. Sometimes they get it wrong. Try picking Unicode or Western (there may be multiple Western encodings, try them all), and refreshing the page for each one until you see one that works.
Bwog, you can prevent this in the future by specifying a character set either on your server or in your META tags.
@Zach vS In fact, we do set a charset (it varies between pages for several reasons), but it doesn’t always match all of the article content. Hopefully we’ve eliminated the problem on this front.
Thanks, all, for help debugging the new system.
@Sure This one. For example, “I’m Sorry, You Spent My 40 Grand on What?” appears as, “I’m Sorry…You Spent My 40 Grand on What?” It appears to affect apostrophes, emdashes, and ellipses on some (but not all) posts.
@Zach vS Better now?
@question Has anyone else noticed bizarre characters and accents in place of some punctuation marks on recent Bwog posts? I don’t know if it’s a problem with my computer, Safari, or the Bwog itself.
@Zach vS Can you give me an example of a specific post that’s exhibiting that behavior?

@haha Macs suck
@hm? what’s wrong w/ bove’s? i thought it was a good summary of CU’s radical tradition?
@Anonymous Yea i’m not seeing why Bove’s article was “miserable excuse” tirade worthy. Yes I agree, many times I want to smack myself after reading Gieser’s column or Kulawik’s for that matter, but Bove was just highlighting a tradition of speaking out. Thought the column was A-Ok
Having to be Red, Hot, and Angry all the time is a tough act to keep up every week. Poor girl.
@joanna bove's miserable excuse for a column is one of the dumbest things ive ever read.
who’s the idiot on spec that lets clowns like jacob mckean, nell gieser, and now joanna bove peddle their self-righteous “anti-oppressment” crap on a biweekly basis?
@And naming your column that means that you have to write that way *every week*. Do you maybe have a problem coping when your default opinion is outrage?
@LOL @ I think it’s fair to say that Joanna wrote an entire article, not because she had an original point, but she was pissed at Kulawik. Last year, Nell and Jacob did nothing more than reply to Kulawik with angry ‘letters to the editors’ disguised as columns. I’m not crazy about Kulawik, but he might be the only original one at the Spec.
