As reported, Columbia football had a rough outing in the rain at Dartmouth, falling 28-6. Columbia’s teams struggled through Saturday, but the crew and men’s soccer teams took advantage of Sunday’s summer-redux weather to uphold our sporting name.

The volleyball team dropped matches on Friday and Saturday to Princeton and Penn, respectively, leaving the team at 11-10, and 2-6 in the Ivy League. They’ll look to turn things around next week on a road trip that takes them to Harvard and Dartmouth.

Also at Dartmouth, the women’s field hockey team nearly held on for the tie, but fell in the final minutes to a tough 2-1 loss. In other Astroturf news, the men’s and women’s soccer teams saw their matches against Dartmouth postponed until Sunday on account of rain. While the women’s team dropped their match, 2-0, the extra rest seemed to help the men, who fought to a strong 2-0 victory. Both teams will host Yale at Baker field next weekend.

Along with men’s soccer, the myriad crew teams did their part to redeem the big blue C. At their end-of-season Princeton Three-Mile Chase, the women’s eight finished an improved 22nd of 55 teams, the lightweight men took fifth, and the heavyweights finished a strong third in their race.
