Football: Ok, so actually football’s somewhat the exception to early November being the end of fall sports; the team’s season does not finish until November 21. And if the team wants to have a chance at finishing that season with a .500 record overall, they’ll need to win big tomorrow against a Harvard team that is 4-0 in Ivy play this year. Columbia’s defense will hope to have slightly more success against the Crimson running game than Dartmouth did last week, when both Harvard halfbacks ran for over 100 yards.
Soccer: Both men’s and women’s soccer host Harvard on Saturday night (the men at 4, the women at 7) for their respective Senior Nights. For the women’s team, it’s the final game of the season, while the men play their last game next weekend at Cornell. A win for the men would also be their second over a ranked opponent in one week, and a win for the women would give the seniors the best four-year winning percentage of any class in Columbia history.
Field Hockey: Julia Garrison scored in overtime to give Columbia a 2-1 win over Harvard earlier this afternoon in the field hockey team’s last game of the year. The win means that the team will finish with an above-.500 record for the third year in a row.[[jump]
Cross-Country: One week before the NCAA Regionals, six members of the cross-country teams won All-Ivy honors. On the men’s side, junior Brendan Martin was first-team all-Ivy, while sophomore Kyle Merber and junior Terence Prial received second-team All-Ivy. On the women’s side, junior Jacqueline Drouin, junior Julianne Quinn, and senior Christina Henderson all received second-team honors.
Volleyball: Volleyball plays its last home matches of the season, against Penn (Friday, 7 p.m.) and Princeton (Saturday, 4 p.m.).
Basketball: The pre-season polls are out, and voters have picked the men’s basketball team to finish 6th, just behind fifth-ranked Yale, while the women’s team was picked to finish 4th.
