The Columbia University Photography Society presents a lecture and slide show by Howard W. French, associate professor at the Columbia University School of Journalism.
He worked for The New York Times from 1986 to 2008, including most recently as Shanghai bureau chief. Professor French will present on his recent photography project Disappearing Shanghai, which documents the last remnants of Shanghai’s historic old neighborhoods. It has been featured in solo and group exhibitions in the United States, Europe, and Asia, and reprinted in numerous magazines. He is in the process of editing a book of his Shanghai photography, and is seeking a publisher.
