202 Altschul (Barnard)
COME WATCH the documentary “INVISIBLE CHILDREN” and SPEAK with an EX-CHILD SOLDIER and the FILMMAKERS.
Plus… FREE FOOD and DESSERTS!!!! First 100 people in the door get Magnolia cupcakes.
They discovered children being kidnapped nightly from their homes and subsequently forced to become child soldiers. This film is dedicated to exposing this tragic, and amazingly untold story.
The film, “Invisible Children: Rough Cut” highlights what the community refers to as “NIGHT COMMUTERS.” Every night, thousands of children “commute” out of fear, from their villages to nearby towns in order to avoid the LRA (Lord’s Resistance Army) abductions. They sleep in public places, vulnerable, and without supervision.
After the screening, there will be a Q&A with Innocent, a Ugandan who was abducted and forced to fight with the LRA at the age of 10, escaped, and spent the next years as one of these night commuters.
You will also have a chance to speak to some of the filmmakers and individuals from the Invisible Children organization.
(This event is co-sponsored by GlobeMed, Amnesty International, CIRCA, CUIRF, LUCHA, BOSS, and the African Diasporic Literary Society)
