Come see a screening of Dislocation, a documentary by best-selling author and Freakonomics collaborator Sudhir Venkatesh about the closing of the Robert Taylor Homes in Chicago and the dispersal of former residents. Following the film, Professor Venkatesh, Professor Catherine Fennel, and Professor Carla Shedd will discuss the changes in public housing over the last 20 years in American cities with particular focus on the extreme cases of New York and Chicago. Then Dot Henderson, a former resident of the Robert Taylor Homes, and Sarah Martin, the head of the Tenants Association at Morningside’s own Grant Houses will speak about their experiences in public housing in New York and Chicago during the past two decades. The screening starts at 5:30; the panel starts at 6:20.
