Dr. Boylan specializes in zoology. Neat!

Dr. Elizabeth S. Boylan, Provost and Dean of the Faculty at Barnard, will step down from her administrative role at the end of the year, DSpar announced today. She will be joining the Alfred P. Sloane Foundation, a philanthropic grantmaking  organization based in NYC, as Program Director.

According to the press release, she will stay on at Barnard in an advisory capacity for the next two years and will remain a tenured professor of biological sciences. Paul Hertz, a fellow Bio professor, will take on the role of interim provost.

The release notes that under her leadership, the Barnard faculty’s overall tenure rate increased, as did the proportion of female professors. Boylan oversaw the implementation of grants for faculty, major renovations to Barnard’s science facilities, and the design and program of the Diana Center. We’re glad she’s sticking around and wish her all the best in her new position!
