Just passing on word that tomorrow, August 1st, will mark the beginning of the second summer registration period. According to an email from Barry the registration wizard Kane, registration will “open on Monday morning, August 1st, at 9:30 a.m.” (Wait what? It’s August!) You can add and drop courses till Friday, August 12th. We noticed a couple of newbies sprinkled in there. Feast.
On the fiscal side, tipsters report that financial aid letters are out, but maybe not for all. Air grievances below.
To All Undergraduate Students:
I write to remind you that the second of the summer registration periods for the fall 2011 term will open on Monday morning, August 1st, at 9:30 a.m. This opportunity to add and drop courses will be in effect until Friday, August 12th. Registration will not, however, be available on either Saturday, August 6th, or Sunday, August 7th.
You are also reminded that throughout the duration of this two-week registration window, there will be no appointment times based on class standing. All continuing undergraduate students will be able to access registration through SSOL on any of the ten days of the registration period and at any time from 9:30 a.m. to 8:45 p.m.
You are encouraged to use the upcoming two-week registration period to refine your fall class schedule to the extent possible and practicable, recognizing, of course, that some final course decisions will need to wait until you have had the opportunity to attend classes in the fall during the change of program period. Nonetheless, you are urged to come as close to a final term schedule as your planning will permit at this time.
Remember that if Columbia College students have any questions about fall courses, you should be in touch with your Advising Dean in the Center for Student Advising. If you don’t know who your Advising Dean is, you should consult SSOL.
I hope that you are enjoying a happy and productive summer, and we are looking forward to your return to campus next month.
Yours,
Barry S. Kane

@GS'er Financial aid letters? What financial aid letters? Or, maybe, what financial aid?
No letter for this GS’er. Not a peep. Not a whimper. Anyone know what’s going on in the GS Financial Aid Officemess?
@Anonymous Is GS even a school?
@... transfer out, drop out, get the fuck out. i made the mistake of sticking around, and it was the worst mistake i ever made in my life. no degree is worth the sort of debt loads columbia is proposing.
just look around you in gs. the only people that are happy are those that come from money. if you’re middle class or lower, gs is fucking poison. forget their cheesy scholarship. run the fuck away and start over. i know it’s hard, i know it’s a serious proposition, i know many of you turned down real universities for this silliness… but honestly, this place is not on your side and if you stick with it, the debt load will increase and it will get worse. promise.
@I got my finaid letter but it was wrong and i had to appeal.
@Anonymous Well, what did you expect from the finaid office in the first place?
@ahhhhh where is summer transfer
@Anonymous Although it is pretty incredible that the new registrar has been this active in communicating with students and attempting to make our lives easier. Credit to administrators where credit is due.
@not to be a douche but bwog is supposed to be a news source. this isn’t news to anyone.
@not to be a douche and the caption under that picture makes me cringe.
@Anonymous “Remember that if Columbia College students have any questions about fall courses, you should be in touch with your Advising Dean in the Center for Student Advising. ”
Remember, that if you are in CE/seas, you should be able to figure this stuff out yourself.

@Anonymous Dear you guys,
Words cannot express how much I hate you guys. As we fight our way northward into the great unknown, only that one thing remains certain: that I hate you guys with every tired muscle in my Confederate body. I hate you guys. I hate you guys so very very much.
@Anonymous Um. Yea. You’re retarded
@SOUTH PARK REFERENCE Better quote here:
Dear guys.
Words cannot express how much I hate you guys. As we fight our way northward into the great unknown, only that one thing remains certain: that I hate you guys with every tired muscle in my Confederate body. We have taken Topeka, and now I must lolly the men over to Missouri. Because I will not stop until we have won it all, and you guys are my slaves. Because, I hate you guys. I hate you guys so very very much.
Yours,
General Cartman Lee
