Don’t forget to head outside into the winter chill and listen to Columbia’s many a cappella groups sing and faculty and students speak at the annual Yule Log Ceremony, taking place from 6 to 7 pm on college walk. At 7 pm, the tree lights go up during the Tree Lighting Ceremony. Head back into the John Jay lounge for the second part of the Yule Log Ceremony from 7 to 9 pm. There will be free hot cider, egg nog, tea sandwiches, and candy, short statements by each of the four undergraduate deans, and a ready by the President of CQA Matt Martinez from “Twas the Night Before Christmas.” The first 300 students to arrive at John Jay Lounge will receive a free, festive beanie baby puppy.
For those who don’t make it to the ceremony (and those who do alike!) check back later for pictures.
