EC Looks Like A Laundromat Now

Behold, the newly renovated EC lobby:

Also, there seems to be some sort of new sign-in system involving a second desk at the North end of EC, kind of near the Heyman Center. It may be contingent on day of the week/time of day—details to come. According to a commenter, residents got an email that said, “Beginning on 9/6 the North entrance will be open on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings during peak hours to be determined until the main entry is completed. All students signing in guests will use the North entrance during these peak hours.”

Unrelated, but also spotted during Bwog’s pregame pilgrimage:

Is this a metaphor for something? We're not sure... let us know in the comments

  • EC Entrance says:

@EC Entrance According to the email EC residents received:

“Welcome back to campus! We hope you had an enjoyable and relaxing summer. As you can see, we have been busy with a variety of projects within the residence halls. The renovation of the East Campus entrance is well underway, but unfortunately, due to some unforeseen complications, the work is not completed.
We have worked out a temporary access plan with Public Safety. The access will change as outlined below depending on the time of day, the work that is required, and whether you are a resident or escorting a guest.

    1) There will be 24 hour access for East Campus residents through the main entrance of East Campus except as safety may require for specific work to occur. The lobby will be closed with temporary walls while work is completed. EC High Rise residents will be directed through the courtyard to get to the elevator. If work requires the closure of the main entrance, the North Entrance will be open with a security guard.

    2) There will be a second means of entry at the North end of the building during peak ‘guest access’ times. This entrance will be open Saturday 9/1 and Sunday 9/2 from 8pm to 4am. Beginning on 9/6 the North entrance will be open on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings during peak hours to be determined until the main entry is completed. All students signing in guests will use the North entrance during these peak hours.

Thank you for your patience while we work to complete the new lobby. We will keep you posted on the progress and any access changes as they occur.”

@Anonymous well, someone’s never been to a laundromat!

  • The King of Spain says:

@The King of Spain I, on behalf of the recently deceased Charles Gwathmey, am deeply offended at the design of this lobby.

I, as a human being, don’t care, because EC is still fugly.
