Gordgeous…get it?

It seems hard to believe that any plant life could have survived the muggy, oppressively hot disgustingness that was the weather yesterday. The Columbia Greenmarket, however, is back in action and proving our fiery-doomsday premonitions wrong. Here’s what to look forward to for today:

It feels like the middle of summer but the market is looking more like fall. There are lots of varieties of apples and winter squashes, pears, kale, cauliflower and broccoli, all certain signs of fall. Now is the time to stock up on the last of summer’s bounty. Remember tomatoes are a fruit (botanically speaking) so they freeze very nicely and can be used as needed through out the winter months for soups and sauces. Check the managers table for some tips on freezing fruits and vegetables.

As always, the greenmarket is open year-round on Sundays and Thursdays and accepts credit, debit, and EBT.

There is food scrap collection for compost every Sunday, from 8am to 1 pm, and textile recycling every Sunday from 8am to 3pm.
