Today, in a very special #tbt, we come together as a community, to remember a time long past. Some would call it a golden age; some would reject it as cultural fantasy, nostalgia for a time that never was, an escape for the harsh reality of now. We leave meaning to be assigned by our progeny, but offer our memories to that future conversation. Oh, Halloween Weekend, 2014… What a time…
It seems like just last week that we:
- Slept a frightening amount, dressed as a very ambiguous animal for halloween, got into a fight with my friend about a pumpkin covered in glitter glue.
- Reverse Cinderella’d: left beautiful palatial Columbia for humble Brooklyn, arrived home not in my original clothes but in a suit that is very much not mine.
- Stayed on campus, remembered what real food tastes like. Did you know that sometimes, sushi tastes good?
- Stole glasses from both amigos and 1020; the former was tragically shattered later that night (poss. on purpose by me…)
- Went to Boston. Didn’t do much halloweening but hung out with my sister at Tufts and friend at BU. Came home. Got new clothes. Went back to school. Exciting weekend.
- Drank a lot. Lost my left contact. Just the left.
- Went to Brown and then also went to Boston. my parents tried to “ground” me for staying out past 1 doing homework at the Starbucks in Harvard square. ~freshman problems~first child problems~
- Slept with yet another CCSC member. I hope I become a topic of discussion at their next meeting.
- Visited pals at Bard upstate, partied in a small rural home and become forever thankful to be doing college in New York City.
- Went home for the weekend. Spent a lot of time with my dog and political television ads. Experienced a moderate level of FOMO watching everyone’s Snapchat stories during Halloweekend while I ate ice cream on my couch.
- My friend and I dressed up as Ninja and Yolandi Visser from Die Antwoord for Halloween
