Yesterday evening, UndoCU, a student group that provides visibility, resources, and support for the undocumented students of Columbia University, made a post on Facebook regarding racists comments that were made in a housing request form for at-risk undocumented students. Several anonymous students filled out the form with racial slurs, using UNIs corresponding to students who attend Columbia. UndoCU encouraged people to share their post in order to spread the news. They stated that they have contacted administrators in the hopes that these students receive disciplinary sanctions for their actions.

content warning: racism

Earlier this week, UndoCU sent out a housing request form for at-risk undocumented students. Some students have taken this opportunity for housing justice to spit out their racist vitriol. They have even applied real UNIs corresponding to real students. UndoCU WILL NOT TOLERATE THIS.

WE HAVE CONTACTED EVERY RELEVANT ADMINISTRATOR AND WE ARE SEEKING DISCIPLINARY ACTION.

To whoever submitted these responses: what intentions of fearmongering and ridicule you may have had when writing this succeeded only in demonstrating that the ivory tower is a spigot of racism, out of which you desperately seek to suck meaning into your white supremacist existence.

What have we ever done to you, aside from demanding our right to exist? What do you hope to benefit from this?

Would you say this to our faces and not hide cowardly behind your computer screen?

RACISTS EXIST AT COLUMBIA. BELIEVE IT. UNDOCU PERSISTS PRECISELY BECAUSE THERE ARE THOSE WHO TELL US WE CANNOT. WE WILL!
