Happening in the world: On Sunday, British lawmakers called for investigations into Facebook’s alleged violation of anti-competition laws and data privacy policy. The U.K. Parliament released a 108-page report entailing what new regulations they can hold against Facebook’s history—lawmakers were troubled by the improper access of data throughout Facebook’s involvement with the political consultancy and their misconduct during the 2016 U.S. election. Happening in the US: Alaskan investigators had solved the brutal murder of a 26-year-old Sophie Fergie. Steven Downs was arrested in connection to Fergie’s body being found in a dorm bathtub at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Downs was charged with first-degree murder and first-degree sexual assault. Investigators were led to Downs by tracing DNA of his aunt, and to DNA found at the crime scene. (NY Daily News)

Happening in New York City: Anthony D. Weiner, former New York congressman, just got released from federal prison and has been relocated to a re-entry center in Brooklyn. Stemming from his sexting scandal in 2016 involving a 15-year-old minor had ended his tenure as congressman, and Weiner is now scheduled to be released on May 14. (NY Times)

Happening on campus: Hosted by the Columbia University Student Organization of Latinxs, join Kenia Maria and Zahira for a panel and Q&A discussing their Afro-Latinx perspectives in regards to activism and intersectionality. Helium by Homeshake was released on February 15th, 2019. The leader of Montreal’s Homeshake was the previous guitarist for famous slacker rock artist Mac DeMarco. This is Peter Sagar’s fourth album that continues to emanate a cozy combination of bedroom pop, soul, and white noise. Best tracks? Nothing Could Be Better, Salu Says Hi, and (Secret Track). Homeshake is coming to perform in Brooklyn on March 22. Check online for tickets.
