Happening in the world: Democratic presidential candidate, Beto O’Rourke, called the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, a “racist”. Speaking at the University of Iowa, O’Rourke showed his support of a two-state solution, and said that Netanyahu had, “joined forces with far-right parties who are inherently racist in their speech and the way that they want to treat their fellow human beings in that part of the world”. Happening in the US: Motel 6, the budget hotel chain, illegally shared the personal information of around 80,000 customers with ICE. ICE had targeted guests with “Latino-sounding names” and had deported some as well. The budget hotel chain has agreed to pay $12 million dollars to settle the lawsuits. (ABC News)
Happening in New York City: Attempts at facial recognition of drivers passing through the John F. Kennedy Bridge highway has failed. There are far too many “technical challenges and privacy concerns” to accurately identify drivers at such a high speed. (WSJ)
