For you rising seniors, things might be starting to look bleak. EC and Hogan are almost all gone. Ruggles 4-person suites and Claremont 4-person suites are completely done-zo. But don’t despair, there’s hope yet! Two (2) sweet 2-person Hogan suites with an RA and a rider, Woodbridge, Claremont, a few Ruggles rooms, and some EC townhouse suites are available.
Along with the rest of the rising seniors, the luckiest rising juniors of the bunch, as well as some of the mixed junior/senior groups, will be picking at room selection today. Good luck to all! And, as always, below in this post is today’s liveblog and running Google doc, which keeps track of how many rooms/suites in each dorm are still ripe for the picking.

@Anonymous Do you guys know what EC 5 is still open?
@Betsy Ladyzhets One EC 5-person suite remains! And it looks like it will still be there for a while — the next 5-person group doesn’t pick until 1:45 PM today.
@Anonymous What’s the first lottery # to pick tomorrow?
@Anonymous 20/365
@Anonymous When will EC kitchens be fixed?
@Zoe Sottile by the start of next year, according to Housing
@Anonymous what is a wien two person single?
@Anonymous They have a common door that opens up to both rooms but the two singles are separate each having their own doors. You don’t have to walk through one to get to the other. I would advise for you to check the floor plans because one of the two person singles are usually pretty small.
@Anonymous When doing online selection do you get to see which rooms are available before appointment time?
@Anonymous fuck
@Anonymous is regrouping for seniors/juniors common?
@Zoe Sottile it depends! this year it looks like most of the senior regroups were four-person groups whose lottery numbers weren’t low enough to get them a four-person in hogan, ruggles, or ec. it remains to be seen what will take place in junior regroup
@Anonymous how likely is it for a group of rising juniors to get a woodbridge double with a lottery number around 1600?
@Abby Rubel Last year, the cutoff for low demand suites was 20/2994, and in 2017 it was 20/2820. However, there are currently 11 left (no high or medium demand suites remain), and there seem to be a lot of 2-person groups with better lottery numbers. There are still rooms left in Symposium and Watt, but you’d need a lot of the people ahead of you to go there instead to keep your Woodbridge hopes alive.
@Anonymous which floors of wien are renovated?
@Zoe Sottile floors 3, 4, and 5 were renovated recently; floors 10 and 12 are getting renovated over this summer and will be ready for next school year
@NOT SOPHIE why is woodbridge going so fast this year
@Abby Rubel Good question! One possibility is that more people than normal made 4-person groups with the intent of picking into Hogan or or Ruggles, so a lot of these groups had to re-group, split into groups of two, and picked into Woodbridge. (Credit to Youngweon for the theory.)
@Anonymous does regrouping still offer all the housing options available during in person selection?
@Zoe Sottile whatever suites are left after all the other seniors have selected will be available for senior regroup. same for junior regroup – all the juniors pick, then regroup groups pick. it’s still in-person selection so yes the same kinds of options should be available
@Anonymous are the brownstones available for in person selection?
@Jenny Zhu Yes! There are two residential brownstones, 548 W. 113th (which only has doubles and is nicknamed “Symposium,” because it’s right above Greek restaurant Symposium) and 627 W. 115 (which has doubles and 3-person suites).
About half of the 627 doubles are gone, so most likely rising juniors with a good pick can still pick into them. 3-person suites in 627 and Symposium doubles should still be available for rising juniors with a medium pick though!
@Anonymous I am a rising sophomore applying as a group but we want to drop down to online selection and try to get singles. If there are no singles left can we coordinate and chose a double with my friend so I don’t have to live in a double with someone I dont’t know?
@Zoe Sottile yes, if a double is empty!
@Anonymous I am a rising sophomore with a lottery number around 600. Would it be possible to get a single?
@Zoe Sottile yes you have a good shot at a single – look at our reviews of dorms like wien, harmony, schapiro, and broadway for cutoffs for singles last year
@Anonymous can any singles be chosen during in-person selection?
@Zack Abrams No, most singles like the ones Wien, River etc. are in online selection which takes place after in-person selection. In-person selection is for groups of 2 or more
@Anonymous are the townhouse counts accurate?
@Zack Abrams Yes! All accurate as of right now
@Anonymous When do River singles usually start going?
@Zack Abrams Aren’t River singles online only? They shouldn’t start going until after in-person selection is over
@Zoe Sottile rly glad zack found the spirit leaves body meme
