Senior Bennett Smith has a hammock AND a T-rex costume, which would’ve been very interesting in combination.

Name, School, Major, Hometown: Bennett Smith, CC, History, Cincinnati, OH

Claim to fame: Hammocks of New York – with a friend, I set my hammock up in various spots around the city and took pics for an Instagram account

Where are you going? Down to Austin, Texas for the upcoming election cycle! I’ll either be managing a campaign or building infrastructure for the presidential race.

What are 3 things you learned at Columbia and would like to share with the Class of 2024?.

  1. Don’t give in to the pressure to fill your schedule with clubs and extracurriculars. Free time is a major key to your happiness and success, however you might define that.
  2. Since I matriculated, Columbia has gotten almost $3 billion richer.
  3. Get. Off. Campus. Seriously. It will make you happier.

“Back in my day…” Columbia Buy/Sell had fewer than 500 members.

Favorite Columbia controversy? I try not to take pleasure in other people’s disagreements.

What was your favorite class at Columbia? Making of the Modern American Landscape with the brilliant Elizabeth Blackmar.

Would you rather give up oral sex or cheese? You can pry my cheeses from my cold, dead hands.

Whom would you like to thank? Many people. I’m writing them all thank-you letters/emails :)

One thing to do before graduating: Make sure I actually graduate (this fall semester is my final one…)

Any regrets? I have an inflatable T-Rex costume. I wish I’d worn it around campus more.
