Field Notes: Some Things Never Change Edition

Here at Bwog, we are practicing all the necessary social distancing and isolation possible, but that doesn’t mean we don’t still get up to various shenanigans. Some things truly never change…

These past couple of days (weeks? months?), Bwog has been busy discovering the fun (and less fun) activities still available in a world of social distancing, like some of the following:
Bwog did some family bonding:
  • Made my parents cocktails almost every day
  • Watched Spongebob: The Musical with my family because isn’t that a fun family event
  • Helped my mom with her resume à la Beyond Barnard resume resources
  • Snuck out at night to smoke weed with my sister in the woods
  • Had a conversation with my little brother that ended in us making a bunch of animal noises at each other
  • Did a puzzle with my mom
  • Yelled at my brothers
  • Had a cathartic talk with two of my siblings in my mom’s car at midnight
Bwog explored the many facets of Zoom:
  • Had a Zoom class while hungover… never again
  • Attended a Zoom birthday party
  • Flirted through Zoom private messages
  • Had a band rehearsal via Zoom
  • Discovered that my Zoom background will forever be the Love Island diary room
  • Taught my friends how to do the savage TikTok dance over Zoom
  • Introduced a college friend and home friend and gave myself an eyebrow slit with their Zoom company

Bwog tried to feel normal:

  • Made a DIY oat milk vanilla latte but didn’t cook the vanilla into the milk long enough
  • Restarted a novel that I wrote once upon a time that got deleted off my computer
  • Rediscovered the pure joy that is Super Mario Sunshine
  • Walked my dog once a day
  • Applied a full face of makeup for class just to feel something
  • Hung out with one of my best friends (six feet apart of course!)
  • Deep cleaned my room
  • Pet my neighbor’s goats
  • Finished off the Wheat Thins
  • Was entertained by rabbits in my backyard for a good ten minutes
  • Continued to be extremely behind on all my school work

Bwog searched for love while quarantined:

  • Had a bunch of half-assed convos on Tinder
  • Rejected a bunch of offers via Tinder to leave the house during quarantine
  • Started watching Love Is Blind, could not make myself finish it
  • Flirted with everyone I’ve ever met on Snapchat
  • Downloaded Bumble. Deleted Bumble. Downloaded Bumble again. Deleted Bumble again.

Bwog self-destructed:

  • Ate twelve tablespoons of straight ginger, subsequently destroying my body
