Happening in the World: Though telescopes across the globe have been closed due to COVID-19, telescopes involved in asteroid detection are deemed as an essential service. Instruments such as the twin Panoramic Survey Telescope and Rapid Response System (Pan-STARRS) in Hawaii and the three Catalina Sky Survey telescopes in Arizona still remain open and operational for detecting near-Earth objects. There’s no greater threat than normal of an asteroid impact, which is slim to begin with, so need to worry! (Astronomy.com)

Happening in the US: The Indiana Historical Society is asking the public to submit videos, photos, recordings, art, or writing that will contribute to a collection of stories about the pandemic. A few hundred submissions have already streamed in. Songs, pictures of cars decorated for birthday parades, and oral histories have been included so far. (NPR).

Happening in NYC:  Some good news for today! The number of virus patients in I.C.U.’s in New York City fell by 17 people. This marks the first time that this number has decreased since the pandemic began. And experts are saying that the curve is lower than what was projected, which many attribute to aggressive social distancing measures in New York especially. (NYTimes)

Project of the Week: I’ve started getting into nail art! Yesterday, I did a fun little gradient and then added clouds to them! I’ve watched so many nail youtube videos. It’s really unfortunate since I am not a long nail person, but I wish I was :/ because the possibilities are ENDLESS.
