Happening in the World: A new study has found the cats may be contracting the coronavirus at a higher rate than first understood. A study done in Wuhan, China took specimens from 102 cats between January and March. 11 of those cats tested positive for coronavirus antibodies but none tested positive at the time of sampling. Happening in the US: Joe Maldonado-Passage, also known as Joe Exotic from Netflix’s Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness, has asked the Trump administration for a federal pardon, citing his poor health. He was convicted of attempting to set up the killing of rival and Florida resident Carole Baskin, killing five tigers, illegally selling tiger cubs, and falsifying wildlife documentation. He maintains his innocence and is currently scheduled to be released from prison in 2037. (NBC News)
Happening in NYC: FDNY will be renaming a bravery award to honor the highest ranking firefighter who died during the attacks on 9/11. The award is the namesake of a benefactor who was a racist who supported slavery. The award will now be called the Chief of Department Peter J. Ganci, Jr. Award going forward. (CNN)
