Happening in the World: Hundreds of scientists and conservationists from around the world are calling for global action to combat the possible oncoming extinction of whales, dolphins, and porpoises. Climate change, pollution, and loss of habitat have contributed to over half of all remaining species warranting concerns about conservation. (BBC)

Happening in the US: Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, voiced her support on Friday of creating a commission chosen by Congress to dictate if it is necessary to invoke the 25th Amendment based on the President’s ability to do their duties in the face of illness or other impediments. Pelosi denied that this was directly caused by President Donald Trump’s positive Covid-19 test, but used his situation as a possible example. (Washington Post)

Happening in NYC: A federal judge ruled on Friday that governor Andrew Cuomo’s restriction of attendees in places of worship, included in his executive order for areas in Brooklyn and Queens whose reported Covid-19 cases have begun to rise, is a lawful exercise of caution. This decision came after Jewish organizations within the city requested for these limitations on attendance to be blocked. (Gothamist)

Happening in our Community: Columbia University Physical Education and Recreation announced on Friday that along with virtual programming, there will be in-person and socially distanced fitness classes offered on the Morningside Campus starting October 13th.
