Barnard College has announced that it will replace the myBarnard Portal with a new, mobile-accessible server: Barnard Portal. Barnard Portal will launch on Monday, July 26.

In a July 22 email from Executive Director of BCIT Victoria Swann, and Executive Director of Communications Quenta Vettel, Barnard College announced the launch of an updated student portal to replace the current MyBarnard portal. The email is copied in full below.

This portal will be located at portal.barnard.edu, and, thanks to updated technology, students will hopefully be able to access Barnard Portal from their cell phones. The server will also utilize Barnard’s Single Sign-On (SSO) solution, making it so that students can navigate to other SSO applications like gBear without having to their reenter login information. Content from myBarnard will be transferred to the new Barnard Portal.

This updated portal will launch this Monday on July 26, with the old myBarnard expiring on August 9. Students can direct their questions and concerns regarding design or function of the new portal to portal@barnard.edu.

The public Barnard directory will not be accessible after August 9. As such, students must use the gBear Global Address list or the Columbia directory to find another Barnard student’s information. Information about administrative offices and academic departments can be found on the Barnard website’s Offices & Services page and Departments & Programs page respectively.

Dear members of the Barnard community,

We’re pleased to announce the launch of an updated Barnard Portal, portal.barnard.edu.  The existing myBarnard Portal has been migrated to newer technology that’s accessible and responsive for mobile use. The server is also behind our Single Sign-On (SSO) solution, so once you’re logged in, you will be able to go directly to other Barnard SSO applications such as gBear without logging in a second time.

All existing content from myBarnard has been copied to the new site and is directly managed by the office or department to whom it’s relevant.  If you have any questions or concerns regarding content, please reach out to that office or department (just as you would about content on the public Barnard website).  However, if you have questions about design or function – if you can’t find something, or if something doesn’t work right -, please let us know at portal@barnard.edu.

Important Dates:

  • As of Monday, July 26, you can try the new Portal at portal.barnard.edu.  (You’ll still be able to reach the current myBarnard at my.barnard.edu.)
  • On August 9, the old Portal will no longer be available, and my.barnard.edu will redirect to the new Portal.

About the College Directory:

As a result of retiring the outdated technology underpinning the current myBarnard, the existing public Barnard directory will no longer be available as of Aug. 9. We recommend the following methods instead:

To find a member of the Barnard community:

To find a Barnard office or department:
