We can call it even, you can call me “babe” for the weekend… ‘Tis the damn season!

As the days get shorter and deadlines get closer, we all dream of someone to hold in the dead of night. But, if you are a Barnumbia student, you probably have not left campus since August. How is anyone to find the love of their life in these conditions?! The answer, darling Bwog reader, is right under your nose (if you are standing at Low Plaza): College Walk.

Once a year, admin remembers their students are very sad and cold and decides to throw us a little party. Enter Tree Lighting Ceremony, the event in which sparks fly! Stand in line with fellow sleep-deprived students waiting for a special treat and boiling hot chocolate, then watch someone flip the switch on many, many string lights. Everyone will gasp together, and forget for a moment about their psets and essays. Emotions run high! Tears might be shed! Kisses might be shared!

My first tree lighting ceremony was shared with a stranger whose toes I stepped on, so they would not freeze. Together we stood, ate cold donuts, and acquired long sweatshirts. We made so much small talk, we actually learned a lot about each other. Today, we are best friends, and they will be at my baby shower. Nothing like losing feeling on your nose and cheeks to bring two people together forever!

So, invite the cutie who seats across from you in Elementary Spanish, or your favorite Bwog Staff member to join you. Direct message a Barnard babe about their Spotify Wrapped, make eye contact with a CC king at the omelet line at John Jay, hand out your number to a GS icon, or flirt at the Maker’s Space with a SEAS hottie. There are so many places to have sexual tension on this campus… Life is short and the line for the mugs is long!
