Happening in the US: USA Swimming—the national governing body for competitive swimming in the United States—has announced its updated competition policy for elite transgender athletes. According to the organization, trans women athletes will be allowed to compete in their preferred category should the concentration of testosterone in their blood be consistently less than five nanomoles per liter. They must also provide evidence that going through puberty as their birth-assigned sex will not enhance their athletic performance. (CNN)

Happening in NYC: Bronx residents affected by the January 9 fire that killed 17 people have come forward and voiced their frustration with the city of New York, denouncing the relocation process. Residents have reported that they have been unsuccessful in finding affordable housing—criticizing the lack of attention on behalf of city officials. As of this week, 161 adults and 57 children are still living in the hotels. (Gothamist)
