Barnard Theatre Department: Inspired by French Cinema

  • December 7 at 8 pm, December 8 at 8 pm, December 9 at 3 pm and 8 pm, Minor Latham Playhouse
  • The second fall production of the Barnard Theatre Department is the devised work Inspired by French Cinema, a play that follows Julie and Leo, two students who go to a graduate school in NYC during the Iraq War and meet a theatre troupe doing a protest play on the war. Tickets are available now.

Creative Writing Lecture: R. O. Kwon

  • December 6, 7:30 pm, Dodge 501
  • The final 2023 installment of the Creative Writing Lecture series will feature R. O. Kwon, author of the nationally bestselling novel The Incendiaries, which was named a best book of the year by over forty publications. Her writing has been featured in The New York Times, The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, and other places.

Art + Life: The Last AI Panel

  • December 6, 8 pm, Dodge 413
  • Writers Margaret Rhee and Blake Butler will converse in an open discussion about the possibilities of technology and writing, including the uses and misuses of AI, in another installment of the School of the Arts’ series Art + Life.

Klezmer Music Concert and Dance Party

  • December 6, 7:30 pm, Deutsches Haus
  • Enjoy an evening of klezmer music and dancing alongside skits, poems, stories, and latkes.

The Power of Stories: A Literary Interpretation and Storytelling Workshop

  • December 8, 9 am to 1 pm, Location TBD
  • This half-day workshop at Barnard aims to bring students from a variety of positionalities together to interpret relevant literature surrounding the ongoing Israeli/Palestinian conflict and to write and tell their own stories. 

Columbia University Players: Theater Week

  • December 4-10, Lerner Black Box
  • The Columbia University Players will be performing a series of short plays this week in the Lerner Black Box as part of their Theater Week festival. Stay tuned on the CUP Instagram for more information about a schedule.
