Happening in the World: A portrait by Austrian artist Gustav Klimt has been found in Vienna after experts believed it to be lost for 100 years. Last seen in public in 1925, the rediscovery of the painting has been deemed “a sensation,” and the painting has been valued at more than $54 million by the im Kinsky auction house. Before being put up for auction on April 24, the painting will make its way around the globe, visiting the UK, Switzerland, Germany, and Hong Kong on display. (BBC)
Happening in the US: A Manhattan jury ordered former President Donald Trump to pay $83.3 million to E. Jean Carroll on Friday over allegations of sexual assault and defamation against Trump. This was the second lawsuit Carroll filed against Trump, with the first case resulting in a $5 million award to Carroll. Trump, who did not remain in the courthouse while the verdict was read, said he would appeal. (AP)
Happening in NYC: 1970s punk-funk band ESG will be playing a sold-out show in Brooklyn this Saturday. Originally from the South Bronx, the band was originally made up of lead singer Renee Scroggins and her three sisters. Saturday’s show will include her sister Marie, son Nicholas, and daughter Nicole. ESG will also screen a self-produced documentary, which describes the band’s history. (Gothamist)
