Because I know we’ve all walked past The Thinker and wondered if he was actually freezing

Alma Mater

Alma lovesssss the snow. Unlike some of the students walking past her, Alma is prepared for the snow. She has her robe to keep her warm, and the book on her lap is so thick it’s practically a blanket—which no doubt provides her with more warmth than the heaters in half of the Columbia dorms. In her eyes, winter is her best season. As she regularly boasts to her fellow statues, Alma looks the prettiest covered in snow. The glittering white flakes bring out the regality in her scepter and throne, further emphasizing her role as the self-proclaimed queen of Columbia.

Tightrope Walker

I am literally so scared for these guys when it snows. Thick snow just piles and piles and piles on their shoulders as they try to stay balanced. If they weren’t encased in bronze, my anxiety would skyrocket thinking about how any second they might topple over. Even though I worry for them when it snows, the tightrope walkers couldn’t care less that it’s below freezing and that the snow shows no signs of stopping. The tightrope walkers are so dedicated to their craft that they probably didn’t even realize it was blizzarding. Honestly, if anything, the tightrope walkers probably appreciated the snow for adding a level of difficulty to their tightrope walking.

The Torch Bearer

The Torch Bearer looks so incredibly cool in the snow, and she knows it. Is she dressed for a cool spring day? Yes. Is that gonna stop her from being a badass? No. The Torch Bearer doesn’t even shiver when it snows. She just stands and holds her torch and continues to inspire Barnard baddies everywhere. (Side note: I am so curious how she keeps her torch burning with all the snow and wind… like how has her fire not burned out!!?)

Bellerophon Taming Pegasus

Bellerophon definitely thinks the snow makes him look tougher. Despite his constantly fighting shivers, Bellerophon brags to all the other statues about how he’s so great at his job that even when it’s snowing and the weather is horrible, he can still tame Pegasus and look good doing it. Bellerophon also makes a point of teasing the other statues when they complain about the cold because he thinks it makes him look cooler to pretend he’s not freezing. The other statues roll their eyes at Bellerophon cause he’s a pompous dick and also cause they can clearly see him shaking from the cold.

The Thinker

Petition to get this guy a coat!!! He is soooo freezing every time it snows, and all he can do about it is sit and think about how cold he is. The Thinker really has it the worst out of all the snow-covered statues around campus. He’s not even wearing anything to protect him from the cold! The Thinker dreads each winter, knowing that the moment the snow starts falling he will be bound to sit and freeze and think about how he is freezing.

The Tooth

The Tooth has mixed feelings about the snow. On the one hand, the white snow falling looks deceptively like vanilla ice cream (I thought it looked more like a snow cone, but The Tooth disagreed and insisted it was vanilla ice cream). The Tooth is secretly the biggest sweet tooth, and the anticipation of the vanilla ice cream raining down from the sky a la Sunny With A Chance of Meatballs makes him so so happy. On the other hand, The Tooth knows that each time the vanilla ice cream falls from the sky it is deceptively sweet. As the snow reaches The Tooth, an automatic wave of brain freeze washes over him, and it’s like taking a sip of cold water and your teeth hurt from how cold the water is but it’s also so refreshing and amazing.
