Happening in the World: The French Police have seized 72 firearms and more than 3,000 rounds of ammunition from the home of Alain Delon, a French screen legend. Delon did not have a permit to own guns and the 88-year old star was also found to have a shooting range at his home. Delon is known for being a star in the golden era of French cinema but has been plagued by health problems in the last couple of years. (BBC)

Happening in the US: A federal inspection in January 2022 found living and dead rats at a Family Dollar warehouse. The chain pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of holding products in unsanitary conditions and was fined 41.7 million dollars recently. Family Dollar, a subsidiary of Dollar Tree, temporarily closed for a few weeks because of this infestation but has reopened since. This is the largest ever financial criminal penalty charge in a food safety case. (The NY Times)

Happening in NYC: Boris and Horton, a dog-friendly cafe will reopen after its customers rallied to bring in $250 thousand in donations after its sudden closure. The cafe will use the money to replace air conditioning, renovate spaces, and hire new staff. The dog-friendly cafe aspect requires a regulatory dance with the Department of Health and dog hair affects the air conditioning much more than any other cafe. (The Gothamist)
