Happening in the World: North Korea’s official Korean Central News Agency has released images of North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un touring an undisclosed location during a tour of the Nuclear Weapons Institute and the production base of nuclear-grade materials. Kim expressed the need to significantly increase the production of such materials to bolster North Korea’s nuclear arsenal. (BBC)
Happening in the US: Polaris Dawn, a private space mission and first-ever commercial spacewalk, has been successfully completed with the splashdown of SpaceX’s Crew Dragon capsule. The mission was funded and headed by billionaire Jared Isaacman, and with him were retired Air Force Lt. Col. Scott “Kidd” Poteet and SpaceX engineers Sarah Gillis and Anna Menon. This mission is the first of three planned spaceflights in the Polaris program. (NBC)
Happening in NYC: Harlem will host the 55th Annual African-American Day Parade today. While the core foundation of the parade being based on celebrating Harlem’s history and acting as a beacon for Black people around the world has not changed, the organizers added a new event before the parade this year: the inclusion of a Get Involved event that aimed to connect the community with literacy, cultural, and health resources. Happening in Our Community: Columbia Health is offering virtual Naloxone training to all members of the Columbia community from 1 to 2 pm tomorrow, Monday, September 16. Naloxone kits will be available for pick-up or mailed to participants who complete the training. More information can be found here.
