- Join the Athena Pre-Law Society and the Institute for the Study of Human Rights for this panel discussing how legal work intersects with human rights advocacy. The event will feature three lawyers from the ISHR—Gustavo Miranda Coutinho, Kutlwano Magashula, and Erick Luwongo.

“The Fight for Global Press Freedom” with CJS & The New York Times
- Monday, April 21, 2 to 6 pm, Pulitzer Hall Joseph D. Jamail Lecture Hall, 3rd Floor and live on YouTube.
- This program will bring together journalists and legal experts to discuss the current state of efforts to suppress reporters and freedom of the press. The schedule begins with welcoming remarks from Rebecca Blumenstein, President of NBC News and Chair of the Board of the Columbia Journalism Review. Following, there is a fireside chat with Jelani Cobb, Dean and Professor at CJS, and A.G. Sulzberger, Chairman and Publisher of The New York Times. Another part of the program is a panel discussion featuring prominent journalists and academics.

American Voter Project: Reimagining Our Democracy

- This event, part of the American Voter Project series, centers on the ways in which American democracy has been compromised and how we can work to restore it. Speakers include 82nd Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr., CC’73 Law’76, and former White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.

- This discussion will feature Juan Cruz, Former Senior Director for Western Hemisphere Affairs, Shannon O’Neil, Senior Vice President, Council of Foreign Relations, and Brian Winter, Vice President and Editor-in-Chief, America’s Quarterly. Hosted by the Institute for Latin American Studies and the Latin American Student Association, the talk will focus on the effects of the second Trump administration on Latin America.
