This week’s events include film screenings, a Columbia Journalism School panel, and a Welcome Back Bash welcoming CC’s (relatively) new Dean!

On May 13, President Bollinger announced that professor and journalist Jelani Cobb has been named the next Dean of Columbia Journalism School.

Panelists discussed a wide range of speech-related topics, from the Bill of Rights to the recent bomb threats to Columbia’s campus. 

Managing Editor Zack Abrams attended the IIJS and Journalism School’s panel, Don’t Panic, Don’t Ignore: How to Report on Hate, last night about the duty of journalists to report on hate and the difficulties and pitfalls that lie therein.

At a special edition of the Columbia Journalism School’s Film Fridays series, The Post was screened last night in Pulitzer, followed by a conversation with the film’s two screenwriters.
