Chef Don’s is Morningside Campus royalty. Argue with the wall.
Something happens when you move to New York. It might be in the air. Maybe the water. The very chemical construction of the city itself. Whatever it is, pizza becomes a part of your being. I think about it way too much. I’ve even developed somewhat of a pretentious air about pizza? I think about the ratio of sauce to cheese. The quality and quantity of the toppings. This brings me to the object of my adoration. Chef Don’s Pizza.
These single-serving circles of heaven are flawless. Yes, even among New York City slice standards. I know crust can be a contentious, often incredibly personal preference, but Chef Don’s passes the test. It’s not all doughy, where you feel like the pizza’s crossing the line into pastry territory, but it’s not razor thin, where the sauce is barely hanging on and everything eventually ends up in a mushy pile. It’s a dreamy compromise of solid, crispy, pillowy crust. The sauce is a perfect tribute to tomatoes, while maintaining a reverence to spices and texture. The cheese melts like a warm blanket over the sauce, acting as the quintessential foundation for the toppings. Ah, toppings. Sometimes they make me emotional. With Chef Don’s easy-order pizza creation form, everyone’s unique tastes are appeased and uplifted. You like pineapple on pizza? No. Judgement. Chef Don’s got you covered. You’re a simple pepperoni pizza and cheese kinda guy? No problem. They even have vegan pizza options. I’m tearing up thinking about it. They just have everything.
Before I close up, I simply must mention the customer service. Not only are my various orders always accepted with a broad smile and comforting salutation, but I am never judged. I mean, I’m ordering these pizzas a concerning amount of days out of the week. And, they never question my sanity! To my face, at least. Chef Don’s Pizza is perfect. Absolutely no notes. I know too many people who haven’t experienced this divine corner of Mudd first floor, and I want you to know that this is a rally call for you. You know who you are. Go to Chef Don’s! Now! If you don’t like pizza, get a cuban. Or a water. Just pop in. Dear Chef Don’s, I love you.
Love,
This very hungry pizza-loving Bwogger <3
