CoLab Movement Workshop

  • Friday, May 2, 4 to 5:30 pm, Movement Lab (Milstein Library Lower Level)
  • CoLab will host Alessandra Williams, a dancer, professor, and movement instructor, for a workshop this week. The workshop “mobilizes participants toward releasing tension and inviting embodied reflection.” No movement experience is required.

Columbia Untapped: Heel the Sole 

  • Friday, May 2, 7 pm, and Saturday, May 3, 2 and 6 pm, Glicker-Milstein Theatre (Diana Center Lower Level)
  • Columbia UnTapped is a student-run dance group dedicated to teaching and performing tap dance. They will present their inaugural evening-length tap show, “Heel the Sole,” featuring student performers and choreographers.

The 131st Varsity Show  

  • Friday, May 2, 7 pm, and Saturday, May 3, and Sunday, May 4, 1 and 7 pm, Roone Auditorium (Lerner Hall)
  • The Varsity Show is an annual satirical musical written and performed by students since 1894 and is Columbia’s oldest performing arts tradition. This year’s 131st edition is titled Morningside Heist. 

Barnard Theatre Department Senior Thesis Festival II

  • Friday, May 2, and Saturday, May 3, various times, Minor Latham Playhouse (Milbank 118)
  • The final weekend of the Senior Thesis Festival includes thesis research presentations, playwriting theses, and performances of original solo works. Eight seniors will present research or play readings across the two nights, concluded each evening by the solo performances (5 pm Friday and 6 pm Saturday). Each event is ticketed separately. 

CUBE: Paquita

  • Saturday, May 3, 7 pm, Apollo Theater (233 W 125th Street) 
  • Columbia University Ballet Ensemble is Columbia’s ballet ensemble that presents full-length classical ballets each semester. This semester, they will perform “Paquita.”
