Bwogline: The Department of Justice charged LaMonica McIver (D-NJ) with assault of a federal officer following an inspection of a New Jersey ICE detention center on Friday. McIver and other Democratic lawmakers legally visited the detention center, where Newark Mayor Ras Baraka attempted to join them by entering the facility’s gate. After complying with federal officers who ordered him to leave, Baraka was promptly arrested. The charges against him were later dropped, but the charges against McIver remain. CNN)
