“Jimmy Kimmel Live” has been indefinitely pulled off air by ABC following host Jimmy Kimmel’s comments on the shooting of Charlie Kirk.
Happening off-Campus: ABC announced yesterday that “Jimmy Kimmel Live” will be pulled off air “indefinitely” over comments made by host Jimmy Kimmel about the recent shooting of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk. In his Monday night show, Kimmel stated that the “Maga gang” was “doing everything they can to score political points” from the shooting. Wednesday’s statement from ABC was preceded by Federal Communications Commission Chair Brendan Carr threatening to act against Disney and ABC over the remarks. (BBC)
Happening near Campus: Mayor Eric Adams called for a ban on carriage horses in the City yesterday through an executive order. Citing recent incidents in which horses have broken free or died on the street, Adams stated that the City should explore alternative tourist attractions to replace the practice, such as electric carriages. While the move has been long endorsed by animal rights activists, Adams is breaking with the Transport Workers Union Local 100—which represents carriage horse drivers—who endorsed him in 2021. Happening on Campus: The Center for Student Success and Intervention is hosting a workshop on how to use SNAP and The Food Pantry from 1:30 to 2:30 pm. The workshop will teach students how to connect with food insecurity resources and other community-based programs. Registration is required.
Field Note: I was super excited for No Classes Friday, but what I failed to realize was that Friday now has to be my homework day. Devastating.
