Happening Off-Campus: Dominion Voting Systems has settled its $1.3 billion defamation lawsuit against Rudy Giuliani, former Trump lawyer and NYC mayor. The case, filed in 2021, accused Giuliani of spreading false claims that Dominion’s voting machines flipped votes during the 2020 presidential election. The settlement, finalized Friday, was dismissed with prejudice and its terms remain confidential. (NYT)
Happening Near Campus: New York lawmakers are calling on Amtrak police to end a wave of arrests targeting LGBTQ people for alleged public lewdness in a men’s bathroom at Penn Station. Over 200 people have been arrested since June, with at least 20 transferred to ICE custody. In a letter to Amtrak leadership, the lawmakers compared the crackdown to “the Stonewall era” and condemned what they described as discriminatory policing tactics. (Gothamist)
