There may be new students, new classes, and a new semester, but some things never change.

The first week of classes is a chaotic time because students have to juggle moving into their new dorm, reuniting with their long-lost friends, and also finding the obscure building where they have an 8:40 am class. Here’s a list of a few things you will inevitably come across this upcoming week:

  • Someone trying to use a visitor sticker to get a guest onto campus one week after move-in.
  • Friends who haven’t seen each other since last year, standing in large groups in the middle of very important walkways (like College Walk) during the pre-class rush.
  • Someone surreptitiously trying to leave 10 minutes into a class because they realize they are in the wrong room.
  • Students (me) using Google Maps to find their classroom buildings (shoutout Knox Hall).
  • A student trying to figure out the difference between swipes and points in Diana while a line forms behind them.
  • Someone logging into Vergil and dropping a class after the professor explains how much the midterms are worth.
  • A line of people explaining to campus security that they left their ID in their dorm and could they be let into campus just this one time because they’re late for a class.

If you have experienced one of these moments in the past week, don’t worry, because so has everyone else at one point or another.

Welcome back to campus!
