Happening off-Campus: Two of Broadway’s major labor unions are simultaneously in negotiations for new contracts with the industry’s commercial producers. Soon a mediator will begin trying to broker a deal between the Actors’ Equity Association and the Broadway League, which represents producers and theater owners. The two groups have met over ten times since August, and the Actors’ Equity Association has begun collecting signatures in case they decide to go on strike. Union members are currently working under expired contracts and are seeking pay increases due to the high cost of living in New York City. (NYT)
Happening near Campus: Tonight at the Interchurch Center, piano virtuoso Danny Mixon will perform at the Center’s Jazzmobile Session. Born in Harlem, Mixon has performed in the US and internationally with other famous musicians such as Charles Mingus. The performance begins at 7 pm, and you can rsvp here.
Happening on Campus: Tonight, from 6 to 8 pm, you can join the Graduate Initiative to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by participating in Sunset Salsa. The event is held in collaboration with the International Students and Scholars Office, and the class will be led by world-renowned salsa instructor Talia Castro Pozo and. Field Note: You MUST go see Oh Mary! on Broadway!!!!!!! The show is phenomenal. Cole Escole really did their big one with this play. I was genuinely crying laughing. Please go in not knowing the plot because it was very fun that way.
