One bwogger writes of the weekend most deserving of observation: Halloweekend!

As someone who is devoted to Halloween and filled with anticipation for it each year, I knew I had to document costumes I had seen and things I had heard from the 30th and 31st of October, and the 1st of November, from people celebrating the most wonderful Holiday. I went out into the city, or some days stayed close to campus to parties focusing on Columbia Students, and documented some of my favorite costumes each time I saw them.

  • Christina Aguilera at the 2002 MTV VMAs, when announcing that Eminem had won an award.
  • Superman.. Superman.. And Superman. Lots of Superman, and that’s coming from someone who was also Superman for one of the days.
  • Patrick Star, but him with the fishnets and knee-high boots.
  • Minho and Thomas from Maze Runner.
  • White Chicks.
  • Becca and Jesse from Pitch Perfect.
  • Peter Graham in Hereditary during the ‘Hail Paimon’ scene.
  • Regan in The Exorcist (This person went all out, the hue of green on her face was impressive).
  • Lois and Peter Griffin.
  • Applejack from My Little Pony
  • Elio from Call Me by Your Name and a peach.
  • Marge Simpson.
  • All costumes from Sinners, each and every one was so fun to look at and so accurate. Bonus points if two women were dressing as Smoke and Stack.
  • Chappel Roan in the new In the Subway music video.
  • Zombie with a traffic cone on head from mobile game Plants vs. Zombies.
  • Lots of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles this year, is it always that many? I do not remember so many men being them last year.
  • Queen Akasha from Queen of the Damned.
  • Princess Kida from Atlantis: The Lost Empire.
  • All Monster High doll costumes! Especially when they were in groups.

Some silly things I heard:

“Ugh, why didn’t we leave earlier?” “Well, I needed to get wasted!”

“Does it really matter if there are three different animal prints on me? People can just guess I’m one of them.”

“If I can’t clip the last corset clip on, I’m just ripping it off at the party.”

“I don’t know what I am. I have stripes on and some red, could I be a mime?”

“I can’t go in yet without getting blood all over everyone. Can I dry it with a hair dryer? Hot or cold air?”

“Why are men dancing on the table? Why are women not up there right now? I feel genuinely angry.”

“The floor is so sticky I bet I could pee right now and no one would notice.”

“If I do not get Canes right now, I think I will die right here.”

Whether you wanted to dress super niche or threw on last minute ears and leopard print, we hope you had a great Halloween weekend, stayed safe, and enjoyed sitting in the subway coming home at 3 AM with Chappel Roan, Spiderman, Superman, and animal variants all around you!
