Cathedral Gardens is a wonderful place to live, and I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else, but that walk will get you.
As much as I love living in Cathedral Gardens, as the weather gets colder, the walk from my dorm to class becomes more and more arduous. I often spend the time on my daily uphill walk thinking about all the things that I could be doing instead.
That list includes (but is not limited to):
- Watch one full episode of Jeopardy.
- Take a 20-minute nap.
- Wash the dishes.
- Watch 9.9% of the Academy Award-winning film, The Godfather Part II, starring Al Pacino and Robert De Niro.
- Scroll on TikTok.
- Make and eat a quesadilla, and then make and eat another quesadilla.
- Play all of the New York Times Games (depending on how skilled you are).
- Take the bus to the Trader Joe’s on 92nd and Columbus and buy some dark chocolate peanut butter cups.
- Walk to the ice rink in Central Park (did you know that there is an ice rink in Central Park, only an 11-minute walk away from Cathedral Gardens?)
- Ice skate in Central Park and fall and break your elbow.
- Count to 1,200 at a rate of one number per second.
- Cook a delicious portion of rice on the stove.
- Wait in line to get into New York City’s hottest club (JJ’s) at rush hour (midnight).
