Today, a cold front from Canada could make temperatures feel like the teens.
Happening off-Campus: The Trump Administration has asked U.S. embassies and consulates around the world to prioritize the visa applications of business people considering “significant investments” in the U.S. and those travelling “for major sporting events that showcase American excellence,” such as the 2026 World Cup and 2028 Olympics. Simultaneously, the Administration has added a new requirement for highly skilled workers seeking H1B visas: it will now screen their resumes, employment histories, social media profiles and posts, and public statements and writings for the adoption or participation in content moderation policies “inconsistent with the freedom of expression.” (PBS)
Happening near Campus: Today, a cold front from Canada could bring temperatures down to record-low digits in the upper 20s and 30s; with wind chill, it could even feel as cool as the teens. According to the National Weather Service, temperatures are expected to warm back up over the weekend, but will drop again on Monday with another cold blast of air from Canada. (Gothamist)
Happening on Campus: From 8 to 11 pm tonight, the Columbia Black Students Organization will host its annual Kwanzaa Ball. This year’s theme is “Black Opulence” and will include a catered dinner, live student performances, a Best Dressed contest, reflections on “heritage, community, and what brings us together,” and more. Get tickets here, starting at $8.
